Breeding tree frogs

Jason W Jun 17, 2003 08:17 PM

Ok this might make some of you upset and it it dose I am sorry but it after all is natures way. I have a Garter snake that will not take anything but Wild tree frogs for a meal. Needless to say it gets hard catching them for every feeding and I do not want to diminish our local population

Hmmm for some resone the whole message was not there so here we go "Deminish our local population" at least I am thinking. I know they eat crickets as I had 1 pet tree frog years ago. Can anyone tell me there minumum cage requierments and any other important keeping and breeding info. Also how to rase the young untill they are of feeding size? Thansk in advance for any help anyone can give.

he wont even eat regular frogs. regular frogs are much more aboundant than treefrogs but I guess that you will have to start breeding them if you want your snake to make it through winter.

Well I am not sure I have only been able to feed him the little frogs we have around my home.

Maybe you've tried it, but you could always try feeding him guppies. I had a garter snake that wouldn't eat crickets, but it would chow down on guppies (actualy, I tihnk they were mosquito fish that I caught wild). I normally had to hand feed him though.
