Need help fixing aquarium. please help me!

liltrip420 May 25, 2004 12:31 PM

I have just recently bought a used aquarium, which was used by a guy with iguanas. I scrubbed it clean and put water in it and found that it leaks along the whole front side. I took my turtle out and now I need to get sillicone. How do I fix the aquaruim? Do I have to take the bottom part off? or just put sillicone along the sides and insides? I have no idea how to get it inside so it doesnt leak. Please help.

Hello,

I recently purchased a 130 gallon aquarium and made some dry areas by purchasing glass and adding silicone to fasten it.

The best way to fix your problem will be to re-silicone the glass that you are having a leak in. Be sure the aquarium is completely dry and then run a bead of silicone along all corners of the aquarium that is in question. Let it dry for at least 24 hours and then add water. I have has aquariums that had broken glass. Instead of purchasing new aquariums, I pay for the glass ($15 or so) and just take out the old piece and silicone the new. Never had any trouble! Be sure to use aquarium approved silicone though, other types seal leaks and don't hold glass together that well.

Hope this helps out!

Good luck!
