Jealous and Envious no more................. maybe

Guy Scavone II May 25, 2004 12:38 PM

Well ok, I'm still jealous and envious of all the amazing litters that have been born this year!!! Congrats to Jeremy, Linda, Peter Kahl, Chris Nicholas, Rich Ihle,Celia, Brock, AdamC, etc etc etc.... This TRULY is the year of the BOA!!!!!!

Well my first litter finally came and I have to say I'm a little surprised/confused... but baby boas are a blessing any day of the week.

About 4 years ago I purchased a group of abberant/striped boas that had very intense coloration. There were 6 like this in the litter from a local guy and I was able to get 4 of them. They turned out to be 2.2 (always nice).

Well I put both males on one of the females that was ready to finally go this year and the babies were born yesterday. I had imagined seeing Abberant/Striped hi-color babies and to my surprise below is what I got.

There are about 4 that are VERY "pastelish" and then 8-12 Anery/Ghostly babies. Some mild abberancy is apparent, but nothing too extreme. I didn't want to bother them much so I only got a few shots, but I'll have more pics after some sheds. It looks to be a total of 26 babies and 5 slugs. Not bad for a first litter.

Congrats again to everyone.... I'll be in Daytona and would love to meet up for drinks with fellow boa enthusiasts... drop me a line.

Thanks,

Those are some real nice clean boas for newborns. The pink on the one is awesome! Anerys was a good surprise!

I'm a big fan of "colorless" boas. Love the thick uniform saddles. They should turn out to be some real screamers. Post some post shed pics please.

Chris, that's the odd part of it all. When I purchased the group I saw the two adults that produced them. They were both just normal boas, albeit very colorful boas, but neither was anery. I suppose that he could have had another male in with the female and didn't think anything of it or just didn't tell me....

It sure is odd though... but that's the fun in all this.

Congrats again on that Motley Litter. You're my personal hero for the week

Ive got a buddy down in Florida (hello Frank B) who produces het anerys every season it seems (well every season Ive known him, approx 4 years).

Each season theese 100% het anerys are ON FIRE, some of the most colorfull babies Ive ever seen. High pinks and "blueish" colors, strong contrasting patterns, ect.

Not sure if it has any bearing here, but figured Id toss it out, as you did mention the parents were high color commons.

Congrats on the litter
