Get the real scoop on global warming - and free ice cream!

pulatus May 25, 2004 05:00 PM

The World Wildlife Fund is asking people to write the representatives to support the Climate Stewardship Act (S. 139/H.R. 4067). They have a web site that makes it very easy to do so - and you get a coupon for a free scoop of Ben and Jerry's ice cream to boot! Do it - your kids will thank you! (Click on link)

==============

Tidal waves in Manhattan. Tornadoes in Los Angeles. A blizzard in Bombay. The culprit? Global warming. That's the fictional story in the new action thriller film, "The Day After Tomorrow."

The scenario is over the top. But the fact is, global warming is happening -- and it's happening today, not the day after tomorrow. Since 1980, we've seen 19 of the 20 hottest years on record. In that time, 20 percent of the North Pole ice cap has melted away. Scientists agree this unprecedented warming is caused by heat-trapping pollution from burning fossil fuels.

Experts report that if we don't cut global warming pollution soon, we face serious risks including drought, flooding, and heat waves, not to mention devastation for coral reefs, the Florida Everglades, and other natural treasures. That's fact, not fiction.

The good news is we already have the tools we need to fix the problem. The Climate Stewardship Act is a bipartisan bill that would cut global warming pollution and help keep our planet cool. The bad news is that the bill currently lacks the votes it needs to pass.

Turn up the heat on Congress to pass the Climate Stewardship Act -- take action now, and we'll send you a cool "thank-you" coupon for a free scoop of Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

Better do it now, though -- just like melting ice cream, this offer won't last through the summer.
Free Ice Cream!

All you have to do is succumb to their bribery tactics and support them? Sign me up---NOT! My integrity is worth a lot more to me than a little bit of ice cream!

And Ben and Jerry? Who would have thought a couple of left wing liberal nuts would support this kind of nonsense? I am shocked!

What a joke! Now its come down to bribery instead of science! I guess if you can bribe enough people, who don't care about this issue enough to research it themselves, with ice cream, you too can make a difference! -LOL

they could get to sign a petition against global warming, if they bribed them! (considering the 30,000 that already say there is no global warming, without even being bribed)

Here's another good article on global warming, and the media bias on the subject.

Yea, it's "bribery" isn't it rodney - couldn't possibly be a trivial reward for supporting the cause could it? NO, it has to be BRIBERY! Sheesh - what a weirdo...

And think - ice cream provided by left wing wackos! Imagine! The scandal!

Get a life man.

Remember kids, rodney says: Deforestation isn't a problem in our world - we actually have MORE trees than ever before! (he really, actually believes this!) And to think he is willing to call others wackos! Kinda tells you where he's coming from, no?

Oh and also: The environmental movement? Started as a communist plot, of course - really. A bunch of commies!

And global warming? rodney sayz: Almost all of the scientists in the world don't believe its really happening! Thats right, rodney sayz so. His evidence? Why rodney knows of two unrelated petitions! Sure! Not polls, not scientific, not nothing - just petitions - but to the mind of rodney, thats rock solid proof.

And he called someone else a wacko??!!?? Go figure....

rodmalm May 26, 2004 03:07 AM

Yep, it's bribery all right. When someone won't bother to sign a petition, they obviously don't care about the issue, or they are against it. Getting some of these uniformed, apathetic people to sign anything in order to get something for free is unethical. Biasing a petition by bribing the apathetic is unethical.

Reminds me of all the environmentalist polls where a question is asked that returns 65% as "no opinion". Then the "no opinion" answers are lumped together with all the positives, or all the negatives to spin the results. We wouldn't want to compare all the yes answers to all the no answers would we? We wouldn't want to be fair about the results would we?

And since when is petitioning the public about something a scientific method as to proving something's validity? Remember how upset you got with petitions where scientists reacted to a global warming petition of with one of their own? Now you are supporting the use of the uninformed and apathetic public to sway policy, with just one petition, and no rebuttal petition, and you think that is a correct thing to do?

Sorry you don't like me questioning your fairy-tails. Along with global warming, do you still believe in the tooth fairy? Santa Clause? After all, there is more evidence of Santa Clause than there is of global warming! You see him in every mall around Christmas time. You see the packages he brings. You see models of his reindeer and sleigh on people's roofs, etc. You see many thousands of the public embracing the idea of him, so he must be real!

-------------

On another note, you are starting to get closer to what I said earlier, but still misrepresenting it terribly.

Deforestation isn't a problem in our world - we actually have MORE trees than ever before! (he really, actually believes this!)

Please show me where I said "deforestation isn't a problem."
I'll give you $100, paid to your paypal account if you can find a post where I said this. I am willing to do this because I know I never said that, even though you keep saying I did.

As for the number of trees, many environmentalists have said this. Just use logic. If you clear cut one acre, the most you can do is remove 100% of the trees on that land. If you prevent thinning of the overgrown forests, you can easily increase the normal number of trees by 1000-1400%. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that 10 times as much land can be clear cut for every acre that is allowed to overgrow in order for their to still be more trees in the world. I don't know the actual number of acres cleared in the entire world, or the total number of acres overgrown in the entire world, just that here in Ca. we have forests that are supporting 10-15 times as many trees per acre as is historically normal. And I clearly stated that I don't know if this is true or not, but "more trees" in the world seems likely, considering the math and all the other frauds we have seen from the environmentalists--like the ice age they were talking about a couple decades ago, or the spotted owl fraud, or the computer projections showing thousands of species becoming extinct every year, etc.

Maybe after a few more explanations of this, you will start to correctly represent what I have said? Nah, it just isn't in you! To correctly represent what I have said, you would have to be de-programmed!

sold the company a few years back. Its run by some big corporation now if im not mistaken. I also recall my local news doing a story on "winters getting colder" this past winter. Its local news and they suck, but it looks like summers are hotter and winters are colder now. LOL Who knows.

I like this cause...I signed the letter...not that any Represenetives in Idaho will read it...maybe I'll have better luck in Georgia. You can keep the ice cream...

Hippy ice cream....look out for the ones with brownies...lol

Rodney has no interest in being accurate or reasonable...he just shoots his mouth (or keyboard) off. He's disrespectful and insulting...I rarely agree with lilroach, but at least he's not a jerk about it...

Respectfully, Chris
