i will be the first to admit that i am kind of retarded

so i want to spice up helga's diet with flowers but i am paranoid about feeding them to her because i do not know what has been done to the flowers. there is a store here that does not treat the flowers once they get them, no pesticides and no preservatives but i am not really sure if pesticides from the growers are still on the flowers or if fertilizer can hurt the uros? am i going to have to grow my own flowers? i live in san diego so if anyone knows of a place to get flowers, i would greatly appreciate the information. i just don't want to hurt her and i do not know that much about plants and whatnot

her new cage came in today and she looks so cute running around in it!

That's not retarded! Feeding the flowers to the uro without bothering to ask first might be, though...

When you bring home a new flowering plant, it's best to let it grow for 6 months before feeding any part of it to your lizard. Some pesticides are systemic, which means it goes all through the plant, and can't be washed off.

In the warm months while you wait for yours to grow out, you can sometimes find packages of edible flowers in the produce section of health food stores. Pansies and nasturtiums are popular for decorating cakes, and such. They're expensive as heck here, so I bought seeds for this year, and mooched some cuttings off friends with gardens.

Always good to ask questions, better to be too cautious, than
CARELESS!

incase you did not see my post on the collared forum, I told you ,

They usually sit up and take notice to SUPERWORMS also as a favorite treat!
Eat em from your hand, but watch those fingers, the worm squirms the wrong way, and Helga will grab you instead.
