cleaning plants before adding them to an enclosure

what does everyone do about plants that have flowers in bloom? will dunking them in soapy water ruin the flowers?

I would just use a mister bottle in this case, or use a detatchable shower head to avoid spraying the blooms, this will provide good water pressure that is controllable.
