PLEASE HELP.......This is really weird!!!

UpStateNYHERPER1 May 25, 2004 08:50 PM

I waw just watching my W.C Rhampholeon Brevicaudatus and seeing if he would eat some of the crikets I just put in his tank. And I noticed the skin around his eye start to bulge out and grow 3x,s its size. And under the skin it looked like something was throbing and pulsating like it was trying to get out. Then it just started to shrink and he looked normal agian. Then a few minutes later it hapened again and then all went back to normal. This is really weird and I dont know what to make of it? Please help me on this one!

I've seen my panthers do this too. I dont know the reason, but it really looks painfull, but I would imagine its just something to do with their eye muscles because it has never lasted more then a minute and seemed to never change his stride..

Your description sounds like normal eye cleaning activity

Sounds totally normal. For a chameleon anyway. lol I think that freaks every owner out the first time they do it.

I have only seen it once in my adult male veiled...pretty freaky thogh for the first time huh?
Try misting his eyes more often (hot water always) and It shouldn't happen as much, but it will still happen (everyone needs to run their eyes once in a while, but it gets hard when your hands are scaly and have sharp things on the ends!).

i have a jacksons that does the bulging eye thing whenever he's misted...it looks like one of those stress toys you squeeze

it's their normal way of cleaning out those googly eyes of theirs. I had read about it on the forum but didn't really know what anyone was talking about until I saw it! he's just being an alien...uh, I mean cham
