Hi all-

I had a new leo hatch on saturday. Now this is the second leo I have ever incubated and had hatch. First one was last year, so its been a little while. It looks like the leos eyes are not really open like my other leos eyes are (adults here)? is this normal for a new hatchling? Are they just adjusting to coming out from the egg? Could she have been born prematurely? Is this normal or not?

Any input would be appreciated..

Thank you!

I would try to stick it in a dark room, If she is adjusting to the light she would be able to see easier, if she was in a dark room.. See a leo as a person almost, if you just woke up and it is really bright out wouldnt you squint? I know i would be( i dont it every morning) lol try to stick her maybe down on the floor and in you closet, a dark place

IT does not appear that its just the bright lights. It kind of looks like she needs a shed or something. I mean one eye looks to barely open and the other does not appear to be open at all....thats why i am a bit worried...I am afraid she might be blind?????

Try to take your finger across the leos face and see if she follows it if she doesn't then sadly she would be blind UGH :*( i would feel really bad for you! If she sort of follows the finger and atlest moves her head twards it a bit then you will know she isnt blind. Even take you finger and move it on the subtrate you have to see if she will follow it... It is worth the try I hope she goes after it! not so she bites you, so we know she isnt blind!

See if there is eggyolk stuck on them. Keep her moist hide very moist, and if that is it she may rub it off and you won't have to attempt to do it. ( I had one that hatched with the yolk sac and some of it stuck to her, she got most of it off and I used a moist q-tip gently to get the rest)
Try an get a closer look at the eyes and see if there is anthing on then or if it could be an eylid deformity.
A pic would be great.

Kinda hard to tell with out a pic. All my hatchling seem wide eyed cause they are afraid. If she can open and close them they should be ok.
Look her over in the light and see if they look ok or if there is anything on them.
ooh is it an albino? they squint at the light.

YEah this is a tough one. i took some pics but she is so small i cant get close enough with my digi without getting a fuzzy picture.
TLC- She does not see so responsive to my finger being in front of her. Again she was just born Saturday. i have not seen her shed so is it possible she might be able to open her eyes after the shed?

Oh yeah how do i post a pic on this site?
