I wrote out like 18 million paragraphs, went to hit 'post', and my computer shut down. What a pain in the... Anyways, wow, I don't know what to say. Well, I'll start off by saying this is going to be a VERY long post, but I beg of you read it all, it's only fair you hear my side of the story. Secondly, I agree with each and every one of you, I'm serious, all of you, You are all right. Next I'd like to get one thing straight, I have the ability to read/write/speak text book English. It's not perfect, and I'm sure I will probably have about 62 errors in this very post, but I can and do speak fine. Secondly, you guys are right, I did put a little bit of effort into making that first post as it was. It's not like I sat there and changed it all to 'Ghettonese' as one of you put it, but I do type/write/speak differently depending on my mood. That night I had been downloading alot of Hip-Hop, so I was in that sort of 'mood' if you could call it that. Anyways, I have something to say, us teenagers, and yes I'm a teenager, we don't try to type/talk like this, we just do. I listen to Hip-Hop, I'm into the urban lifestyle, and as a creature of habit, I have developed those... I don't know what you would call them, but I'm sure you know what I mean. Now to the guy who is a cop; You said something about growing up or stop trying to... Wait I'll just go read your post again lol...... There! Ok... Now you said I should take control of my life, stop trying to be a victim, and grow up. Now I would like to know officer, how you figure that #1 I have no control in my life, #2 I'm trying to be a victim, and #3 that I am immature all from a one paragraph post. Now don't tell me, I know what you're going to say; My bad grammer shows off bad presentation bla bla bla... Yes it does, but you shouldn't judge me from that. BUT! I can't blame you, as I said in the begining, I agree with all of you. I don't know where I'm going with this but I just want you all to know that I am not a hoodlum, nor am I an un-educated kid, I'm just another young man caught up in the mix... Haha, some of you might recognize that , but back to teh subject at hand... I did not realize you guys took it so seriously, and I apologize if it bugs any of you. I will, from now on, type as I am right now, and if that's not good enough for you well then I don't care . To close I would like to ask why you adults don't understand us teens, you were after all one of us at some point in time. Oh well, I guess some things will never change. Adults will never understand teens, and vice-versa. I hope what I've said in this post has changed your obviously negative view towards me, and that we can all enjoy the wonderful world of herps together (sounds corny, I know). Oh and uh, I can't remember your name but whoever told me just to tell everyone fa shizzle, lol... That wouldn't make much sense. I mean, it would, but that's not how it's supposed to be used. It means 'for sure' as in... 'You gon' be playin' ball?', to which you would reply, 'FA SHIZZLE!!!', hahaha. Anyways, this post is WAY off topic, so to keep it on topic I'll let you all know I can't get a Corn - My aunt is being 'difficult' lol. Instead I have chosen to construct... Erect? Build? Anyways I have made a community tank instead. It currently has 2 of the most beautiful Brown Anooles I've ever seen. It also has a very kool, but somewhat drabbly colored Green Treefrog, and a Fire-Bellied Toad that could eat a small dog. Now, I would tell you more, but I'm sure half of you quit reading atleast 20 minutes ago, so I will end it here and make some smaller individual posts. Thank you all for your time.

Your right Adults will never understand their own children’s generation. My father could not understand me and I can not understand my children’s generation. Each generation rebels against the next simply for the sake of rebelling. When I posted my reply to you I did not mean to start such a debate, but I guess it is good to go off topic and discuss real life issues some times instead of just snake related questions. I have a 17 year old daughter and oddly enough there are just two things that I can normally find common ground with her boyfriends, my snakes and paintball. They normally are at least interested, if not fascinated by the snakes and for some reason they all like to play paintball, which I am an avid player of. So although many of the times our two generations will clash, there is always room for common ground.
I too am a Police Officer and have been for 10 years, I normally try and leave my work life out of my play life (with the snakes) but seeing you mentioned the other Police officer below, I must try and explain his thoughts as I see them.
First off, I honestly thought that after I posted my remarks, that the majority of the forum readers would have been annoyed with my remarks toward you. Although I tried to keep my remarks even and measured, it was still an “unprovoked” attack on you when you were just asking a question, although in your own style. For that I do apologize. I could/should have e-mail/contacted you off the forum to express my thoughts to you instead of doing it publicly. I was surprised to see that other somewhat shared my feelings toward this issue, I just figured I was mean and grumpy LOL.
Second, onto the other officer who posted and told you to take responsibility for your self… Wow, who knew there was another snake raising cop out there LOL! I know I am the only one in my area so I was surprised by his posting as well. I was once asked by someone “if I had to be stranded on a deserted island with out my family what type of person would I choose to be there with?” My reply was easy, “ another snake raising cop of course.” At the time I assumed I was the only one and there fore I would be left alone in peace on my Island LOL. But onto his statement, I don’t think he was saying that you have no control of your life, only again because he does not know you, but the fact that you were playing off the slang typing as a typo error was showing a lack of responsibility for your actions. Not that your actions were horribly wrong, but you appeared to be trying to place blame else where for them. As you might assume the Hip-Hop culture in general leaves a bad taste in the mouth of law enforcement. Work in a very wealthy county of South FL, where the majority of high school parking lots are filled with high Dollar cars (such as BMWs, Lexus, and even Hummers) and nothing is more frustrating to see these wealthy children to aspire to be ghetto people, they will steal, burglarize and sell drugs just for the image. They have no need for the income, most have more money then they need, but they all have their pants down at their knees, calling every one dawg and ho and think they are from LA or South Philly. I find nothing more stupid then a little white rich kid from Naples FL who claims membership with the Latin Kings, Gansta Deciples, Crips or Bloods. They almost seem ashamed of the station in life and purposely aspire to be low class criminals. But in general the gang life is not going to find any friends in the law enforcement community and those who emulate the gang life and try to call it Hip-Hop culture are not normally going to well received either. Most of the teenagers now a days, do not know the origins to most of the Hip-Hop references used today and therefore do not know the reasons that many of us find certain things offensive. Those of us who have been around long enough to know the history will not take kindly to certain things and here is my top list of issues….
1) don’t show me your underwear or boxers, where pants that fit and keep your butt covered ( this is a trend that took off in the State prisons years ago when belts were taken away from prisoners. They let their pants hang down to tell the man to Kiss his ***)
2) Don’t call me BOSS it is an anagram backwards for Sorry Son of a *****, again a prison issue.
3)Don’t call me DAWG, because if I am dealing with you in a law enforcement environment, I’m not your dawg, your friend, or your buddy. I find it shows a lack of respect.
4) do not grab your penis while talking to me or stick your hands down your pants, I will eventually have to cuff you and that is just disgusting. Further more as a cop, you stick your hand down your pants, I don’t know what you are going to pull out and therefore you will quickly find yourself face flat on the ground.
5)DO NOT flail your arms up and down in the Yo Yo Yo style of speaking, every time your arms come up, I think you are getting ready to fight and I respond accordingly.
6) do not invade my personal space. I keep 6’ distance between me and any one I am speaking too and if you continuously keep steeping into that space I feel threatened and there we are back to number four again.
7) don’t try to be the hero in front of your friends, getting shot with a tazer and defecating your pants in front of your friends is no way to build status, it simply makes for a smelly ride to lock up
8) don’t make that teeth sucking noise, it makes me think you are going to spit on me and that is just a bad thought.
9) try and be honest, more then likely I have heard it before and by someone more creative the you. You will not be the first person to tell me that the weed in your car must belong to friend because you have no idea how it got there. Many times someone will get felony stupid to try and cover a misdemeanor crime (such as running for the police for simply driving with no DL that is Stupid!)
10) Show respect and you will get it back, show attitude and I guarantee you will get it back ten fold. If you feel that a cop is just plain wrong, do what he tells you to do and then file the complaint through proper channels. If you resist him/her (right or wrong) you will more then likely be going to jail.
Just some helpful hints when dealing with the PoPo.
Well, now I have run off on a tangent and will stop.

Tazers arent that bad if your breathalizer reads .28 .When the adult entertainment bar I use to bounce at went to the no hit rule they gave us all 200,000 volt stun guns.They didnt even faze most drunks.So we all got liquored up one night and tried them on ourselves.We found the spine and heart areas would drop us pretty darn fast but every place else it just felt like a very hard punch.Our force in Peoria Il just pulls there guns and makes you lay on the ground if you break the 6 foot rule or act stupid.Our town is located between Chicago and St louis and
when the gangs from chi town and st loius meet in the middle it's summertime bloodshed.

First it was you running around screaming with big old welding gloves on and a tarantula on your head.

Now it's going to be you drunk and tazing yourself for fun. At least now if you go back to working there you know where to zap the drunks to drop 'em.

Thank God there's another donut eatin' snake raiser out there! I couldn't agree more with your post. I'm a cop in north ST. Louis (home of Nelly, yippee...) My first DWI woman had 13 crack rocks in her purse, talk about a shock into the job. Good times, but I digress. If you are ever up in STL, drop me an email.

When we were teenagers we knew everything and the adults where clueless~ then we became adults and became clueless.

It's generational~ give it a few years (10, maybe 15) and you'll be clueless.

I absolutely hate the way you wrote the first post~ and I would throw a fit if my son was speaking or writing like that~ but what do you want to bet he speaks and writes differently when I'm not around? (I did, I know he does~ sometimes he slips up)

On the other hand~ I think it's great your interested in reptiles and showing an interest in responsible husbandry before purchasing a pet. Too bad your Aunt has no interest~ Thats Murphy's law~ I wish my kids had an interest in reptiles~ but they don't~ you wish your Aunt liked reptiles~ but she doesn't

I just wanted to let you know to keep an eye on your frogs and toads. Firebelly toads can tox out your green tree frogs and I think vice versa. I work at a pet store(no boos please)and we were limited on space and kept fire bellies with our green tree frogs. We started to lose large numbers of the frogs and could not figure out what the problem was. I gave a friend of mine here who really knows his stuff when it comes to herps a call and he let me know that the firebellies can be pretty toxic to other amphibians. Actually, most exotic frogs, toads and some salamanders and newts can be toxic to each other when kept in groups.

Good luck with the tank, just make sure everything you keep is safe for each other.

Yeah, I was in a bad mood, and just got done reading Michael Savage's new book, so i took it a bit too far. I'm actually 27 years old and grew up in "da ghetto." I ain't tryin' to get street cred just cause I grew up in north STL, but I see people everyday who say I stopped them for whatever reason (they're black, they're from the middle east, they're kids, they have green hair, whatever). Amazing that radar guns can't see skin color, but for some reason, I'm blamed for it.

I didn't mean to say you didn't have control of your life. I believe that you do. I just think that you are not a product of your society, you can do whatever you want. I have respect (or should I put, mad props, yo) for the fact that you can admit that us old farts can get offended by posts like that. I've always thought that "ebonics" or "ghettonese" is just a lazy tool of a weak mind, but that's just me.

Now, trust me, English was one of my worst subjects in school. Or, as Ralph Wiggins from the Simpsons would put it, "Me flunk English? That's unpossible!" However, I think spell check is one of God's great creations.

Obviously, if you are a teenager, you are somewhat immature. That's just a given from your age. Yes, some teenagers are mature beyond their years, but they are definately the exception to the rule.

Now, for the funny parts. You said "viously negative view towards me, and that we can all enjoy the wonderful world of herps together (sounds corny, I know)" did you mean corny as a pun? If so, I'd have a little more respect for you than before. That's good.
