I'm already partial to the Beauty snakes but I don't have a Blue and yours appears exeptional. Can you tell me a few details like age, length, feeding schedule? I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
Age is unknown as we adopted her from the local reptile humane society. She's...."feisty" and eats about 6 mice a week. She's 9' 4" and pretty defensive, but I think that may have soemthing to do with how she was treated before the reptile humane society got her. She's been doing better in our care and is not "as" defensive as when we got her.
Glad you liked the pics. Feel free to ask anymore questions.
9'4'' is huge, I have a yearling Taiwan, I don't know if it will get that big but I hope. If you could put up with a couple more questions, on the feeding, do you feed 6 mice at once or scattered through out the week? Have you ever tried rats? As far as feisty goes, does she strike at you? My Taiwan always looks like she might bite but never does. Thanks again.
I usually feed on Sundays (I have "many other critters too) and I feed her 6 f/t mice at that time. She won't eat if I'm watching. She waits til I've been out of the room for a while and then she'll commence her feast.
I adopted her from a reptile humane society and I think whoever had her previous to me, didn't handle her, or teased her to some point because when we got her she was striking at me EVERY chance she was given.
I've been working with her some and she's calmed down quite a a bit, but she will still strike without hesitation. Just not as often and she's a bit more curious about me now.
Oh, and I have tried larger prey, but she seems to prefer eating more smaller prey items than fewer larger prey. She managed to eat a couple of gerbils once, but since then, she's refused anything larger than an adult mouse. I wish that I could get her on something like rats cuz they're supposed to be more nutrious, but so long as she's content, I'm happy.
