Ahaetulla prasina mycterizans?

Philodryas May 26, 2004 03:49 AM

I have 2 Ahaetulla prasina...or so i think.

The one i know is a prasina has the white stripe allong the body and my other one has yellow stripes just like iv'e seen in mycterizans pictures. Is it possible for prasinas to have yellow stripes instead of white or is it more likely that i have one prasina and one mycterizans?

Best regards: Ronny Levin, Sweden

i've caught a few prasina's before...both white and yellow striped..i think it is very possible that they're the same species

mycterizans usually has a single anal shield, while prasina 'usually' has two. Also mycterizans has a lower subcaudal number(usually less than 155).Trying to distinguish them by colour alone is hopeless.
Hope this helps.
