take your large snakes to the park. I know obviously not a crowded park because sadly many people are deathly affraid of snakes especially big ones. I live in an apartment so I do not have much green space for my boys to enjoy themselves. Does anyone do this or is it not a good idea.

I try to let my 9ft female Burm out as much as possible, let her roam around the house/yard, but if you're too cramped then I'd say take your Burm outside to a small park or a trusting friend's backyard. In my case kids LOVE to see big snakes, and the parents are generally cool about it if you explain the snake won't eat their children (heh).

Unfortunately for me, I live in Miami, and when you take your burm outside, you either have people asking you if its real... trying to kill it, or trying to follow you home so they can break in later and take it.

I took my alby out for a walk earlier this year, and all 3 happened. First I'm mobbed by people (read: idiots) asking if its real... then I go by the store to get a drink and a guy tries to knock her out of my arms and starts swinging at me. Then on my way home, I notice a few peeps following me to the apartment building. About an hour later I hear glass break in my roommates bedroom... We both go running outside armed with a baseball bat and an asp (not the snake, but the baton), and proceed to chase two kids down the street, where bat met knees, and we were never bothered again...

Putting a snake into a public setting where the general public is unaware of the possibilities of a large snake being there is unadvisable. When people that do not want to see a large snake all of a sudden find one they usually react in a strange histerical way and this can really freak out your snake which could result in an innicent person being bitten. Besides that in a lot of cities it is illegal. Before you do it (which I do not advise) I would check with the local authorities and ensure that there is a place where you can. Todd
