Live bloodworms and tubifex often carry diseases since they sit in stagnant water for most of their lives. Unless you want to risk giving your frogs some parasites I would use another food source, lots of others out there. I have heard of people using them to feed tads though, haven't tried that myself though.

Hi mark,
yup, I've been reading a lot postings from various sites linke Tincs.com that they feed bloodworms as a choice of food for their tads. If tads can eat them, why not the adults?
There are frozen bloodworms available that are sterilized and pre-packed by some companies out there, fyi.
I just don't know why people switch out of bloodworms when the frogs turn older if they do feed them to tads.

Yes, I use freeze dried tubifex worms. When you didnt' specify frozen I thought you ment live. Darts generally don't eat food that isn't moving, so freeze dried worms won't really work, which is another reason why I thought you were talking about live worms.

i have tried feeding them black worms but they did not seem interested in them at all.
While dart frog tadpoles are aquatic, may graze on algae, daphnea, small crustaceans and even blood worms or fish flake in that stage, they change as adults in to rather strictly terrestrial hunting animals more into chasing down live prey. It has to be wriggling and moving, and they aren't about to go into the water after it. Blood worms aren't an option for feeding adult dart frogs.
