"wanted"-- thornscrub hook-nosed snake

rdbartlett Jun 17, 2003 09:49 PM

In late July or early August I will be going through southeastern AZ in the hope of finding a Gyalopion quadrangulare to photograph. If anyone has an area they would suggest, or even have one of these snakes in captivity that I could photo, I would sincerely appreciate the information. Thanx/Dick

I think there's someone on that forum you don't visit (www. f i e l d h e r p e r s .com) who recently posted some information on those )

Hi Jason,
Thanx for the note. Another herper had also made me aware of this.
I've seen the little guys in Sonora; now I'm itching to see them in se AZ, the northernmost segment of their range. But you're right-- I don't visit the other forum any longer. I simply got sick to death of the public floggings that were occuring. Cheers/Dick

Dick, if you're going to be near the Santa Ritas, give me a call. My house is only about 15 miles from there. I'll also be in the Chiricahuas July 25-27. The hooknose can be found in this area, I believe. Peace...TC.

Hi Terry--thanx. I will try to do so.
Jim and Pete are up on the UP at this time doing
woodie surveys. So far not much success.
Hope all is going well with you. Dick

I need to get to know Harding better, lol. Went down today barely found anything, Terry. Just another hatchling snapper and a newt.

Andy, you should contact Jim H. Maybe I'll send him an invitation to be a member of the Ratsnake Haven Site. I'll show you some insculpta sites in the Pigeon.

Dick, been thinking that that hooknose near the Chiris is maybe a Plains hooknose and not a thorn scrub. I know the thorn scrub have been taken on or near Ruby Rd, however. I even have a pic of one somewhere, that was made by Marty F, I believe.
