i did a reptile show a high school today and i ended everyone with annie. the kids loved her. but she was a lil angry. when i had her out she went after a turtle i had on the taible in container. she has not eatten in 3 weeks do to her trying to shed. but when i got home i took a mouse and gave it to her and she eat it. she dose seem to be getting a lil thiner but since i now know she is eatting it must mean she will shed with in the next day or i am going to have to take her skin off by hand. umm i have a lil question when i had her out she umm bit her self she tryed doing agen about a half hour later but put my hand in the way she did not hurt her self.she has just downed a nother mouse i will go to the store tomarrow and get her some rats. the show went of great and umm renee i used your picture with a large anaconda in the show to explain that there not evil monster out for people. i also changed some kids mind on herps. some of the kids would go out killing snakes but will a lil education i think i got them to stop. wonce they see the wonder of an animal it makes it something special and if i have changed one life today well then i did my part.

I do not know what to say about her bitting herself (Renee, is that self mutilation? : ) When I did the show at the elementary school this year I was surprised because the kids knew a lot more than the class the year before. There was only one girl who did not like snakes and it was deffinitely learned in that her entire family hated snakes. Shows like that can do a lot to help people skip the fear for the next generation. I had 4th graders asking me mating questions and oviparous vs viviparous snakes. One girl had a bearded dragon and i asked her if she had more lights than i explained i used for snakes. she told me about her flourescent light and I explained why her dragon needed uvb and how normal light bulbs can not give them that. Another 4th grader raised his hand and said he read that thats because flourescent tubes use gases that allow the rays to be emmited. I was shocked i could get into such an advanced topic with 4th graders and went on to explain mercury vapor bulbs and how and why this type of lighting is important. They loved "Ana" and wrote me a great thank you letter telling me some of the things they learned. since many of these 4th graders had seen the movie anaconda...it was nice for them to see how nice they can be if treated correctly. I also explained that snakes can be nice but many think you are big and want to eat them so you are better off watching them and not trying to pick them up or they will probably bite you or poop on you say they don't speak english and can't say they are scared and want you to let them go....good job cody

wow i wish i had thoughs 4 graders i was teaching biology at first then some chem teacher herd and buy the end of the day i had english, spanish, gym, and even a couple of history classes. i also had about 30-40 kids that cut class to see so i had to write them passes so they did not get in trouble. my kids new all the myths on herps like turtles comeing out of there shell and asked a lot of questions about the movie anaconda and y my baby was not flying around the room. i had more teachers scared of snakes the kids and it was mainly the bio teacher being that the only bio they teach is cell division. the kids that were scared did have a history of family hateing snakes but wonce they saw it was not going after them they really lighted up.
