Artificial Moonlight

Underachiever May 26, 2004 03:16 PM

I have a Nelsons Milksnake and a Kenyan Sand Boa who are both very active at night and was wondering if there was a a way to simulate moonlight with out screwing whith my snakes heads. I have read of blue LEDs being used for fish. Could cold cathodes be used for snakes or are they damaging to them? Anything will help me out.......anything.

Well the best looking moonlight is produced by one of the top fishlights in the business. It retails for roughly 400 so thats a bit steep. It puts out 3 modes (morning day night) so thats a bit overkill for you. You can use low wattage blue bulbs used for heat or like you said weak LED's. Try and not use them directly because they are very bright and focused and thus can damage the eyes.
