Boa constrictor breeding

tegu2002 May 26, 2004 03:57 PM

Hi, I own a 10ft female boa constrictor, she is resonable fat and eats a rat a week, would I be able to breed her now or would it be better to wait until next year??
The reason I ask is that the local pet shop has said we would be able to borrow a male boa that they have at the moment so that we to breed our female.

Is she ready??

While it isn't unheard of for boas to breed successfully this late in the season, most bred 5-7 months ago and are now giving birth. Typically the breeding season for common boas is Oct-Jan. Will they let you keep the male until January?

Im, not sure, I am going there again this Saturday. If they can't is it possible to breed her now or would the babies for sure die and is it bad for the mum if I breed her now?? I don't want to put her in any danger I would rather breed her next year.
