Ok,so what does Sarawak stand for.I guess I'm behind on things.Great Pics
Doug
I beleive its near sumatra.
The island of Borneo is divided into Kalimantan, (Indonesian Borneo, of which Western Borneo is where most all "Borneo STPs" are collected from.) Sabah, Sarawak, and tiny Brunei. All three of the latter are along the northern coastline, and a mountain range helps divide Sarawak from the remainder of Borneo, thus possibly allowing two different lines of STPs to develop...as is the case in Sumatra, where a Mountain Range divides the Sumatran STPs (Blacks) from the Sumatran Bloods (brongersmai.) However, just as in Sumatra, despite the mountain range, I would be unsurprised to see some sort of interbreeding along the border, even though its mountainous terrain provides an inhospitable environment for p. breitensteini. It remains to be seen whether Sarawak Locale Borneos have sufficient genetic divergence to be reclassified as a fourth branch to the now broken p. curtus tree.
