Obese, or Paranoia

Hey, my brooksi is about 20 inches. I feed her every monday and friday a appropriately sized mouse. Now im not sure, but she seems a little big around. Does that sound like too much food.

you have nothing to worry about. Feeding that snake twice a week is fine. Feed it something that leaves a small, but noticeable lump (a fuzzy about the same diameter as the body twice a week should be fine).

In fact, she looks rather thin for a captive brooksi. Not unhealthy, just thin. I think you have a good feeding regimen. Many people overfeed captive snakes, IMHO.

That is kind of old photos, but she is pretty thick now. She feels more muscular than soft. That and she is very, very active. I was worried a month or so ago that she was sort of thin. Now she gives a baby boid a run for their money. JK, not that bad. But i dont want to make her a huge lazy snake. Thanks for your words of wisdom.

If she feels muscular than I'm sure she is fine. They go through thick and then long stages as they grow up. Remember, brooksis are heavier bodied than most kings.

My usual rule of thumb:
Feed something the snake can fairly easily choke down. Like Chris said, a mouse or rat about the same diameter as the snake (I usually feed a little larger, but not by much).
After the king poops twice & starts actively hunting and following a finger on the glass, I feed again. For these guys, I am usually feeding about once a week, now, and they're about 3 feet or so.
