We participated in Reptile Weekend at the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek. Among other things I took 3 Tegus..Felix, Thalia the Blue, and Eos the albino. They were all a big hit and behaved well all weekend long. Here is Felix with a couple of his many admirers.

i notice that you normally bring your tegus to the shows and other things like that. (atleast from what i see) and they always seem to just stay up there. do they always just sit there or do they try and walk off and explore? i cant keep any of my monitors or tegus still when i do things like that. was just wondering how they do.

Matthew, we take the animals out frequently for educational purposes. I think they get used to the routine. We provide nice heating pads for them under the soft towels and they seem to settle in and get comfortable for the most part. Occasionally they will get restless and want to wander, usually when they have to go potty. When this happens we always have a nice large crate for them to be displayed in. Felix was wonderful this past weekend considering that it was his first time out in over a year.
