Pyro Pyro (gravid or not)

Sasheena May 27, 2004 12:37 AM

Further down I asked if anyone thought my pyro was gravid (I'll post the picture of her when she turned blue)... she just shed in the last 24 hours... I tried to feel her up, and while she doesn't seem to be gravid, i DID feel a few small bumps in her... but if they were eggs, they were the size of cornsnake eggs. (small ones). My guess is that she is developing follicles rather than gravid. I gave her a pinkie rat just after she shed, and she snapped that up like she was starving. I put the male in with her and she did not try to run from him, though I'm not sure if they've copulated.

Anyway, thought I would give an update on how she is doing. Still hoping I haven't missed the boat on this one this time, but if I have, that's okay.

Well that surely is NOT a pyro... Here's the correct picture of Lady.

Hmmm...she does look a little 'plumper' towards the back end but I don't think she's gravid. I'd keep putting that male in with her though, you just might get lucky.

But that kitten is absolutely adorable Sash! I take it it's one of yours? What's it's name? Was it WC or CB? What locality is it? Planning to breed it in future? I don't suppose it's up for trade or sale? LOL! j/k. What a cutie

The kitten is WC... product of some of the feral cats around here. The mommma kitty had them underneath my "mouse house". I caught the one in the picture first (and momma kitty glared at me) ... his name is Tigger and he's much bouncy-er. Then a week later I caught his sibling "princess" right from under the momma kitty's nose... Momma kitty came after me with daggers flashing ready to kill the human who dared to kittenap her kitties. But I got away with few scratches, and now we have two kittens.

As far as the Pyros... the male and female are "cuddled" together. We'll see what we get.

LOL.. That is a cute kitten! My Cat was a little wild guy to.Someone's cat must have had some kittens around here and I spotted him sitting in some bushes.I tried to get him but failed. The 2nd time I spotted him he was right on my front step,a sure sign this guy was to live with us I lured him with some tuna then took him inside, gave him a flea/tick bath and took him to the vet the next day to be de-wormed. Poor little guy was only 1pd 5oz at 5 weeks.I got him in October/November. He is now doing very well and is totally healthy.

My cat looks almost the same exact coloring as yours with a little less white!

Got a quick question also. To determin the sex of a king snake I would need to goto a vet wouldn't I,or someone who knows how to probe a snake?

I would get a friend to probe the snake if I was uncertain. I'm sure the vet can figure it out for you also. I like being able to pop baby snakes.

From the look of the pic I would say she is not gravid. The other useful piece of info in determining her current state is the fact that she ate after shed. I would keep feeding her as much as she wants and watch the back third of her body to start plumping up. It will not hurt at all to leave the male with her (except feeding) and let them work out the timing. I got a nice clutch of 100% het/Applegates from a female i never saw copulate but was with the male often. Good luck and have fun.
