Comparing beardies and uros. Humidity.

Flavia Guimaraes May 27, 2004 04:03 AM

Im raising both my uros and my beardie in a country where the level of humidity is very high and during the rainy season even higher (Malaysia).Im keeping them outdoors, in wire coated cages,in my covered balcony. When it is raining they can even get a little bit wet!
I can notice that my beardie ( a rescued with a severe case of MBD but now its ok) is not happy when it is raining and the level of humidity is still higher. But my uros dont seem to mind and enjoy being outdoorseven when its raining!

That seems very strange. Beardies drink water and most uros don't. The uro is more of a true desert lizard, as I understand it than a bearded is, as beardeds live some of the time on coastal areas. Beardeds are usually given either water bowls or misted and uros are not. I have always been told to keep uros dry. Seems strange! Are these adults/

Yes, that seems strange to me, too. All of them are adults. My beardie is around 18 months and my uros...i dont know. When i bought them last year they were already full adults. When i keep my beardie outdoors for several days in a row he starts to have a nose or mouth leak!He starts to accumulate a kind of an yellow fluid in his mouth and/or nose. When i take him indoors his nose/mouth dries. My uros dont seem to mind living outdoors even when its raining! But dont forget that the weather here is never below 80F!
