Most young king snakes do better in smaller enclosures like a 10-20 gallon for life.Young snakes feel more secure in a smaller enclosure. If you do decide to go with the 75 gallon I would recommend getting a back ground for the tank and 3 or more hide spots. That way he won't feel as vunerable.

Sometimes there is a thing as 'too much room',especially with young snakes.

You can try the 75,If the snake looks skittish and doesn't eat move him down to a 20 gallon. I started my yellow rat off in a 10 gallon tank when he was a hatchling last april and by September/October I had to move to a 29 gallon because he was getting to big for the 10 and he was tame by that time so they will outgrow a small tank fairly quick. I have my hatchling Cali King in a 29 gallon also and both are doing very well.

If the snake takes to the 75 and eats well he will be able to stay there for life. I understand you don't wanna buy another tank, neither would I if I had a 75 on hand!Give it a shot.
