Found our 2nd alterna last night at the base of the staircase cut on 277.. 18" male, dark alterna phase with red blotches. Didn't see another snake of any kind until an atrox crossed at 3am.

It looks like I wont make it to Wild Horse until about the 9th. Smitty wont be able to leave until the 8th so I told him I was going to leave without him. With that in mind he decided to catch a plane to El Paso on the 8th where I'll pick him up. I plan on sticking around there hunting the Hueco's until he gets there and then probably that night he arrives. Then we'll be heading south the next day. That is of course, unless things are good in the Hueco's and then we'll stick around. We'll be in my Jeep. So, in a nut shell, we'll be there eventually.
I can't wait to get out there, it's freaking killing me!

I told you man.. 277 is your road. 2 alterna in 3 days... That is great. You got one on the road and one on the cut.
I know you were walking the cut right...
I am glad you two are having a good trip. Now Steve B is going to have to work extra hard to play catch up on the river road.
I know he will get something though. He always does...
My week at work has been so hard. They payed us to play paint ball today. Not as fun as herpin, but not a bad afternoon.
Don't forget to watch Orange County Choppers when you can.
