Question about albino hets

bigmoqui May 27, 2004 01:09 PM

I have an albino het sonoran gopher that I bred successfully last year with a normal male. There were 7 eggs all hatched and none were albino. This year she laid 9 and I,m just wondering what the chances of getting an albino out of this clutch. I saw both parents to the albino het and the male was albino with pink eyes. He said there were 3 albinos and 5 hets in his clutch. I'm not even sure if this is the right forum to post this on, but any help or advice would be appreciated.

Sorry, buddy... your chances of getting an albino are 0 if your male is truly normal. You have to breed your albino het with either an albino or another albino het to have a chance.

What you are producing is 50% possible het albinos. Meaning half of them are het and half aren't but you can't tell which is which by looking at them.

If your male is actually an albino het, 25% of his offspring with this female would be albinos. So the odds are looking like he is just a normal. Sorry!
