boa cleanup

bigdnutz May 27, 2004 04:31 PM

I just built a new rack to keep some of my boas in. I used plastic tubs to keep them in thinking they would be a snap to clean out. Sometimes after cleaning out the poop it still smells pretty bad from the urate. Is there anything that has worked well in removing the smell and still safe for the snakes?
I have just been using warm water and a little bit of soap.

Thanks

I just recieved a vision cage that was strong with cat spray and i used soap and water, then a bleach solution and then i close the whole thing off and put inscence in there and one whole stick later, not a smell to be found and the snake is housed in there now.

I use Nolvasan, it is the best at breaking up hard urates that I have found and it is totally harmless to your animals, I think Proexotics sells their own brand called Virosan, but you can order it by the Gallon from The Bean Farm, but it is a concentrate so you have to dilute it;. A gallon will last you forever! I have between 50-60 boas and I have hardly used a 1/8 of a gallon and I have been using that gallon for over a year and a half!
