gravid common musk nesting question..

Jesse S. May 27, 2004 07:32 PM

Hi,

I have a gravid common musk turtle who I'm guessing will be laying fairly soon. My question is in your experience when do they typically begin to nest? When it starts to get dark? Late at night? Are there any telling signs? She has been walking around on land on and off for the past week, if that helps. Thanks a lot for any help.

Jesse

Well theres no real "nesting time" that they follow. Usually they will do it when its quiet and they feel secure. So she may do it during the night. A sign that shes getting ready to lay is when she starts digging "test holes". Hope this helps,
Chris
