Strange behavior

aps929 May 27, 2004 10:00 PM

I was watching/teasing my Sav through the glass this evening when all of the sudden he bit his front foot and clamped down on it. Then he wouldn't let go and ran back into his hide and I could here him struggling against himself. I took him out 5 minutes later to inspect him and found that he had bit one of his toes till it bled.
Has anybody ever seen anything like that?

I might be mistaken but, it sounds like a defensive response used against being eaten by snakes.
If you enjoy "teasing" your sav, you are an idiot.
If you can't treat it with respect give it to someone that will.

Scott

PS. and people wonder where I
keep getting these rescues.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

The day you get any of my herps is the day I die.

I apologize, I was a little insulted at first by your reply, Scott, and I posted too soon without calming down, hence the defensivness of my original reply to you.
Let me explain myself a little:
When I used the word "tease" I used it in very loose way. I was laying down on the floor with my face near his cage(it's the easiest way to watch him). He is very curious whenever I do this. If I move to one end of the cage he will run down to that end and watch me from there.

I was not poking at him, tapping on the glass, or dangling food above him or anything else that could be construed as abuse.
I have always taken good care of my animals. Don't be quite so quick to judge.
Anyway, sorry about the last post.

Tony

How would you like it if I put you in a cage and then teased you at my pleasure???

Leave the poor guy alone he explained his case........damn you people sure let the dogs out when someone says something that was misconstrued.

hmmmmm I might like that haha

Seriously though, No for real haha

Anyways an animal being teased is never a good thing, but I believe in this case it was just a bad choice of words.

Yes, a bad choice of words....but there was something seriously stressing the monitor.
You said his tank is on the floor?
If its in or near a high traffic area in your home you might want to set the viv up higher.
Maybe that will calm him.

Diana,

I realize I may have flustered you with my charm, but what are you talking about?

I never said he had it anyplace, you'd have to ask and tell him that not me. I don't even know the kid.

aps929 May 28, 2004 12:18 PM

The cage is on the ground but it's not a high traffic area at all, and I live alone.

And second, I'm not a kid.

JPsShadow May 28, 2004 12:43 PM

Wow I think I mentioned I did not know you, therefor calling you a kid is a figure of speech.

I am glad you felt the need to correct me though.
