A lot of time, hatchlings will be born with very nice orange striping. From what I have noticed, the orange will fade as they grow...at about 3 months of age, the males will have the intense orange return...it's one of the coolest things about collareds...watching them go through the color changes to adult hood.
Have fun,
John Eddington
It might also be because male babies show more than some females.
I got 1 male and 4 female, none have bright orange.
I can slighty see some orange on the male but it's almost
invisible.
they are 1 month old. they may change later
He's about 2 or 3 weeks old. John is right about the babies color. It tends to fade out and then come back in the males.
I'll take a photo of the same lizard in a few weeks (if I still have him)to see what happens to the color.
