The remaining egg... won't hatch

Gunilla May 28, 2004 01:35 AM

Six of my babies hatched last Saturday-Sunday. I had 8 eggs from the beginning and one baby was dead unfortunately.

It is strange... I *still* have one HUGE egg in the incubator. This egg looks like it has several days left before it will hatch (it looks fine and normal). Twins? Does anyone else have any experience of an egg that takes much longer to hatch than the others?

I had eggs start hatching last week. I still have two eggs left. They just started to sweat today and are starting to thin out a little more. It has been 83 or 84 days in the incubator but they are still healthy looking. I had one egg that was twice the size as all the others. I thought for sure it would be either twins or a 10 gram baby and it hatched out the same size as all the other babies, so go figure.

Hm... then I guess it is not that unusual. Thanks for your reply, now I don't have to worry - just be patient..!

I have had a few clutches where 99% hatched and then the last egg decided to wait over a week before hatching. I have also had some with a few eggs that were twice as big as the rest and thought maybe twins.... but I am yet to get any twins

Ok, then I know that my egg is "normal". I haven't heard about one egg hatching long after the others. I was hoping for twins..! Especially since one of the babies never hatched. It was fully developed but dead when I opened the egg. The egg looked weird so I saw it was something wrong. This last egg looks perfectly ok.
