The venom is actually quite potent. In addition to doing a real number on the blood coagulation, the Atheris species we studied (A. squamigera) was actually quite neurotoxic as well. As Proatheris superciliaris was also much the same on the blood (but not neurotoxic) we can assume that the other Atheris species will hammer the blood and are also likely to be neurotoxic as well.

Thanks for the info..

Can it cause fatalities??
I heard a profesor got bit last year By a A.chlorechis and the envenomation was very mild..

But I also Heard That envenomation from A .squamiger Can be fatal.

Is there any antivenom That can be used??

Thanks.

No worries

>Can it cause fatalities??
I'd have to say its certainly possible. There was a well documented case in Germany. Poor b@stard was absolutely hammered. Really did a number on his blood. They did some lab tests with the venom afterwards and did a very nice job of showing its potent action on the blood. I had one of my students also play with it and it was actually quite neurotoxic as well.

No idea on the antivenom but Sprawls reckons Echis might be worth a try. Good idea as any as far as I'm concerned. Not sure I'd like to be in that situation though.

Cheers
