Red tail boa from Venezuela ?

a_chen_tw May 28, 2004 02:58 PM

I received this female boa from a local pet shop . The herptile importer told them this specimens was imported from Venezuela . She looks like a BCC however a little similar as a BCI . I can't make sure if she is a BCC or BCI or a hybrid boa . This is my first time to heard and see a true boa from Venezuela in Taiwan . Do you boa masters have any data of boa from Venezuela
? Would you tell me if this female boa is a BCC or BCI ?

thanks a lot .

She looks like a nice clean Colombian with some BCC influence, which would make sense if it was a import from North West Venezuela. Colombia and Venezuela share a common boarder that is near the end of the Andes Mountian range, the assumed boarder for BCC and BCI intergrades. Much like the Leticia Colombian Boas look very Peruvian, the Venezuela from the North West would look very Colombian. See map at link below. As far as it being a BCC or BCI you would have to go to the man, Tom Burke he likes that scale count thing, personally my eyes are too shot for it.
Thanks

There are a lot of different looks to Venezuela boas. Here is a link that will give you an idea of the diversity of them.

The one thing that make me doubt that its venezuelan is that as far as I know they are very strick about exporting animals.
