A question for contact paper users...

rujonesin May 28, 2004 04:05 PM

I have recently began to convert my cages from play sand to contact paper. I have one female that just hates it. All she does is sit on her basking rocks and when I feed her I have to place her in the bottom of the cage and she just lays flat on her belly and only eats the crickets that walk right in front of her. It looks like she might have some traction problems. Any one else experience dragons that don't like walking on their contact paper? This is not really a major concern or anything, but more a curiosity question.

Mike I think you may be using the wrong kind of liner if shelf liner is what you wanted to try. Contact paper as in really smooth with a sticky backing that glues down??? With the duck brand self adhesive liner NON stick actually give very good traction. The Duck Brand liners have ridges and raised areas where they grip on really good.. This site is the brand I use, and on the site you can find a store near you that sells them. Most wal-marts, kmarts and home depots sell them, and even the cheap dollar store by me sells a different brand but the same type of material. I actually have a wood board I covered with the liner and set on a 45 degree angle for them to climb up on and bask and hide under too, and they hold on just fine.

This is the kind most people who use liners buy Copy & paste Url and on the left margin you'll see the search for finding a place near you that stocks them.

Matt

The first roll I used was the duck brand. I had a smaller cage and it fit just right. For my 40 gallon breeders I got the bigger roll and I did buy the sticky back stuff because they didn't have the other brand in larger rolls. The smaller dragon does fine on it but the other girl just hates it. I never put 2 & 2 together but you're right I did get the wrong stuff for the bigger cages. Thanks Matt.

Congrats again on all those great babies!
