just a thought...

i would imagine that if you were to handle them and use something like a straw and rub it gently on its lips and see if you can get it to bite down on it with it running lengthwise from side to side of his mouth, you shouldnt hurt his mouth and you could get a look inside maybe. thenagain, i would be surprised if it thrashed it head around a bit if it got agitated.

i've always used fishing line ( like a piece of floss) to open the mouth, or a thin credit card/platic business card for force feeding my geckos when needed. I don't know if i would do it if it didn't HAVE to be done because it's probably not the safest thing to do.

The best way to get into a Uroplatus' mouth is to A) tap it somewhat abruptly on the nose in a downward motion... This may not work with tame CD animals, but will nearly always work with WC... This will stimulate a threat response and cause the gecko to gape... OR B) get a thin guitar pick and slide it into the front of the mouth... The gecko will bite down on it and then release, leaving its mouth open... Most of the time though you'll have to try it a couple times to get the gecko to gape... This method is easy for medicating or assit feeding because if the gecko doesnt gape, you can slightly turn the pick clockwise to "pry" open the mouth and insert the syringe...

Of course do all this very carefully...
