normal behavior?

zag May 28, 2004 05:45 PM

Is it more or less normal for baby panthers (1.5 months) to be terrified of their owners. I have not handled them once since I got them home a month ago because I haven't wanted to stress them any. I was wondering if I should try to handle them very occassionaly for a minute or two to get them used to me? I think their breeder handled them too roughly. Anyway, I know they're not meant to be handled a lot, but if they're near when I put crix in, they nearly knock each other off their vines trying to get away.

Being afraid of owners at that age is understandable, but not to that extent. As long as you know of no other odd symptoms, I would just say be veeeery slow when feeding them until they are more used to you, and then handle them very briefly a couple times a week and offer food from your hands or from a dish while holding them, I'm no expert, that's just what I would do. Give it a try or wait until others post replies.
