He hasn't been eating for days and from time to time he makes a short groan and freezes up. He looks like he's in pain and i don't know what to do. I think it might be a bacterial infection because he's got a small bit of swelling around his eye. IF you have any other suggestions i would appretiate it. I just don't want this guy to be in any pain.

The symptoms are too vague to give you a guess but you can always take it to a vet for a checkup.
If you are not sure if there are any herp vets near you, you can look on this site

well I was too late. Found him sitting motionless in his tank this morning. I know they go through hibernation i'm prety sure he's gone. but thanks anyways.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Sometimes they just take such a sudden turn for the worse. A necropsy would help you identify the problem & posting the results would help all of us, if you wish to do that. Again, very sorry for your loss.

it was from what i can tell a bacterial infection... I had left him for two weeks in my fathers care. But i guess the cage stayed to moist and it build up in the substrate. It was my own fault i guess and it will never happen again.

When I was a teenager my father cooked my entire collection by turning off the AC unit in my room while I was away for a couple of days.
