RES Hatchlings and Cichlids?

MissMiniZoo May 29, 2004 01:42 AM

Okay, I've been looking everywhere and can't quite find a straight answer of yes or no. Would it be okay to house two RES hatchlings (approximately 1-1.5 inches-I have not gotten them yet so I do not know exact sizes) with one approximately 2 inch African cichlid? I'm not sure of the exact species of cichlid, but the fish I have is bright yellow in coloring.

My guess is that they probably shouldn't be put together due to the fact that the cichlid is an agressive fish, but I'm not positive. I also don't want the babies to hurt or eat my fish!

Cichlids are a fish that does ok with turtles usually, since they are so aggressive, but since he is bigger than the turtles I would worry that he could hurt them. It is never a good idea to put something in with the turtles that you don't want eaten, because they will probably nip at its tail and eat it when they get bigger.

Thanks! I'll probably just keep them in separate tanks.
