Comparison between White lips and Amazon tree boas/WLP photo request...

MillionPoundBomb May 29, 2004 02:40 AM

First off, I have been doing lots of research on WLPs and I am finding myself to be very interested. I was wondering if you keepers(though there seem to be few!) have any pics of the golden variety. They are my favorites.

Now with the comparison. I used to have tree boas. I loved them so much, but I moved on as I got some more snakes. I regret letting them go. Anyway, I loved how they were awesome display snakes. They were so pissy that I honestly could never take them out unless I had snake hook, gloves, and alot of courage. They were going for my face!

Now if I got a WLP, is it a nice display snake? Or is it really reclusive. My tree boas would just sit out in the open. I will be getting a cb hatchling or juvi, something I can acclimate to handleing. I just wanted to know the nature of the snake.

Thanks alot in advance and those websites helped alot!

I don't know that I would call wlp's "display snakes", mine tend to hide for most of the day. They are very active at night though, and don't seem to mind being watched. My wlps can be jumpy but I consider them pretty tame even though I pull them out of the cage with a hook. My atb's run from quite mean (like you said, use gloves and watch the face) to totally calm. I have both and really like them for different reasons. They really are not very similiar animals, except in humidity requirements. Here's my male wlp and one of my female atb's (poor focus, sorry...).
