How do I know how much to feed my BP?

ngiovas Jun 18, 2003 08:29 AM

I'm concerned I may not be feeding my BP enough. I have only had her for a few weeks. She is about 17 inches long. I fed her a live hopper mouse last Tuesday and a F/T hopper mouse on Monday of this week. She swollowed it very quickly and looked like she was waiting for more.

How do I know if she has had enough? Also, she hasn't defecated since the first feeding. Should I be concerned? How long does it take to digest their meal?

Thanks,
Nick

give her a meal that is the same size as the widest part of her body. It sometimes takes a month to deficate after a meal, no worries. Good luck with the new baby!

You should be able to see a lump in her after feeding time. It's okay to feed just a little bit wider than their girthiest point. Don't worry if it doesn't look like they can get it down - if it's appropriately sized to its body, then the mouth and throat can stretch amazingly. I love watching them swallow. I was feeding my baby male (when I first got him) the smallest adult mouse I could get at the petstore, and he never had a problem.
