Any ideas for a harness for my BTS?

jwarnick May 29, 2004 09:15 AM

My six month old BTS is the friendliest/tamest little guy you can meet. He loves coming out and climbing all over me. Loves to explore desk draws, etc... I would love to take him out when the weather gets much warmer. I tried placing a small/ferret harness on him (He's now 17 inches long), but it seems to get in the way of his walking when he places his legs forward. Any ideas to safely bring him outside. I know he would just slowly crawl around, but I would like to make sure he's safe on some type of leash just in case.
Thank you,
Jill

I have the same question, but my BTS isn't as tame. I have one of those lizard leashes, but can't get him to be still enough to get his little legs through it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When I had a backyard I used to just let them walk around on the grass or in the garden and I'd just keep a close eye on them. If you have the time to walk them around on a leash then I'm assuming you would be able to just keep an eye on them while they're walking around on the grass. They would probably enjoy it more without the leash aswell.

i myself have tried to make my blue tongue skink stay in a leash but it didn i bought one of those lizard leashes.....it didnt work....he/she just crawled out. i wouldn't recomend a leash. they are a slow moving reptile and they drag their body on the ground. any attempt of a leash would just fall off as they crawl. but, something you can do if you dont want to watch your blue tongue skink is make an out door enclosure, i personally havnt done this but it wouldnt hurt to give it a try. just makesure no one takes your precious lizard and that prey animals-dogs or other animals cant atack it. hopes this helps you slightly.
