Yesterday afternoon my 4 year old hermanns tortoise escaped from the tortoise corral in the front yard. I spent hours looking for him but gave up after the time I knew he would be down for the evening.
I made flyers last night to post in the neighborhood. I got up early this morning & had a cup of coffee on the front porch, all the while listening for rustling leaves or any other sign of Mo. The other tortoises were awake & warming up in the sun so I knew that Mo would likely be stirring also, so I looked around for him with no
luck. I posted 2 flyers on the pole in front of my place as well as a couple at each end of the block on both sides of the street. (I live in the inner-city, on a busy street) On my way home I spotted him sitting on the sidewalk in front of the house. He's had his big adventure & I'm very glad to have him back.
I've read too many success stories here regarding lost tortoises to have been too discouraged.
