Leopard Geckos and Racks

silversunkiss9 Jun 18, 2003 08:36 AM

How do adult leopard geckos do in racks compared to aquariums? I currently house mine in aquariums, but I think a small rack would be more convenient for my leos and my corn snake. I was looking at Boaphile's blanket box rack where their rubbermaid tubs are 22.25" x 16.25" x 5.75" tall. What are your opinions on this system compared to aquariums? Mine are in 10gal and 20 gal long tanks (If I don't get the rack I'll move all of mine to 20gal long tanks).
Thanks,
Erin

Go for it! I know a lot of people use leo racks. I am building a rack with tubs that are 23 9/16" x 16 1/4" x 6 3/4" and I will be putting 1.2 maybe 1.3 in each tub. I will be using shredded paper for a substrate, then it is EASY to clean and they can still burrow some, not to mention I can get a HUGE garbage bag FREE every day if I needed it. My mom works for a company who has like 3 shredders and a BUNCH of stuff to shred and she is bringing it home for me and my leos and BPs.

All of our geckos are in rack systems and do very well. Leopards do not need an abundance of room. We purchased a rack from Mark at wantapet.com and are very pleased with quality and price. We also have our melamine racks as well but will be replacing them soon for all plastic. They are much easier to work with.
Hope this helps,
Bruce

Thanks for the info. I checked out that site and I'm amazed at their products and prices. Their racks do look great, and I'm also considering a new cage for my Taiwan Beauty from there.
