It's been a fun spring season. Although I had only enough time to visit three of my eight cerb dens I still managed to see around a hundred individual snakes, many of them multiple times. Also have seen lots of abyssus, a number of klauberi and some tigris and molossus. Haven't seen any scutes or atrox yet. Heres a couple pics I liked. Male tigris.....

taken at one of my densites at midday. The rock temp at the edge of the shadow read 122F. Most of the cerbs were down out of the sun. I chose this little female and had to use my flash as she was in deep shade. I didn't notice until I got home that I had illuminated another snake behind her.

What locality is the C.l.klauberi?

I prefer not to say. It is not a well known location, just a couple bumps in the landscape that are more desert than mountain.

Hey Rich, Your pics came out excellent. Maybe I can add a spray bottle in my pack(next to the kitchen sink) for bathing animals in the field. It was good to see ya and herp for a few days. Kinda reminded me of the days of ole when we would search for something green that we swore didnt exist!!!
I looked at the weather specs after you went back and there was significant hi pressure dominating the area. Of course low pressure moved in within the next couple of days and conditions looked excellent(our typical luck). Take Care,
Rich

It was fun to get out and herp together again. Hopefully now you'll be able to start doing some trips to Tejas and points south. Bring on that spray bottle! Whats another 2 pounds to a 150 pound pack, lol! Bring your SCBA whilst your at it! And a couple pounds of Chorizo!

Man, I forgot about those days! Now them funny green snakes are everywhere!

Rich
