Snapper/softshell eggs

Rick D May 29, 2004 08:22 PM

Can anyone tell the difference between snapper and softshell eggs? I just found a nest that was dug up by an animal but there were still 5 eggs in the bottom. I know both eggs are round but I've heard it's pretty hard to tell the difference. These look like they are not very old.
Thanks.

The softshell eggs will be harder-shelled. I consider snapper eggs to be like plastic plates while softies are more like fine China. The softie eggs feel thinner and more fragile. They should also be slightly smaller.
