Does my crestie have to be before I am sure it is a female? I have one that is about 6" long and does not have a bulge at the base of the tail. I am not sure how old he/she is and was wondering if anyone could tell me based on this info. thanks!

I am still wondering if anybody could tell me how big my crestie will be before I am sure of the sex? I have one that is 6" and one that is about 3 1/2". I know the smaller one is too small to tell, but the larger one has no hemipenal bulge. When I bought them the pet store did not know the ages. I am just trying to find out if it is safe to assume that the 6"soldier is the name unless I find out he/she is female) will not grow a hemipenis. Thanks in advance for the help!

It's not a matter of how "long" ur gecko is.....it's a matter of how old it is, how many months old it is, when was it hatched, etc...a crested gecko can show all signs of being a female for 5-6, even 7mos. possibly before bulges suddenly pop. So nothing is a guarrantee just yet. If ur crestie is 6" long from nose to tail, it's pretty close to be accurately sexed, but I'd wait a few more weeks if I were you. IMO.

yeah thats what i thought. like i said the pet store did not know the hatch date, and they said their supplier would not know. i've had him/her for about 3 weeks now and i am hoping it will be a female. right now the name i have is soldier, so if it is a female i have to think of a new name. any suggestions from anyone?
