My Female Is NOT EATING - PLEASE respond

livxpreshun May 30, 2004 02:28 AM

Hello,

Ok, so my adult female is not eating. She is almost 4 years old and has never done this before - at least in this way. The last time something similar to this happened is when she was about 1 and she was starting to barely eat. I took her to the vet and found she had worms. We treated it - it worked great - she ate well again. The difference is this seems to be very slow. Last time it was almost overnight that she did not eat. Now 3 years later...

The previous time i fed her a pedialyte/ensure combo which I have fed her to keep up weight/health. I have been feeding her here and there with the same pedialyte/ensure combo from before but it does not seem to be sparking any appitite. This has been going on for about 6 weeks now. She has begun to loose a little bit of weight - but her tail still looks good. I am going to schedule a vet visit here soon - but want to know if anyone has any ideas and/or any suggestions on how to keep her healthy until then??

Thank you!!!

Feed her Chicken Baby Food.. Put on the tip of her snout so she'll lick it off.

In the Grocery Store's baby section. There should be a huge section of nothing but Baby Food. Look for one with chicken. NOT Turkey, though - not good at all. It's really cheap, too - usually no more than 50 cents a jar - and that'd be a LOT.

Just keep in mind, though - you have to keep it refrigerated once you've opened it (but not before).. AND, once it's been opened, throw it away after the 3rd day.

You can also mix the chicken baby food with a bit of calcium powder and some water... and freeze it in ice cube trays.. that way you don't need to keep throwing out 3/4 of a jar of the stuff every 3rd day.
