best way to introduce new uros?

mike d May 30, 2004 07:37 AM

i have had uros for about 2 years now. and about a year ago i lost one of mine. and i am wanting to add to my single uro i have now. is it possible to get a little colony going? i am woried because mine has been without another uro for about a year. he is in a 75 gallon tank right now. but ina few months i will ahve the opertunity to build a big cage.. Around 8 feet long 4 feet deep and not sure how high yet. and i want to get a colony to have in there. so my question is what risk do i run with adding more uros in with my existing ones? and about how many could i house in an enclosure with the dimensions listed above?

Thanks Mike D

There's always a possibility that two uros won't get along. I'm assuming you're talking a male and female, here. As for the 8' cage, sounds great. For the height, remember that on the reptiSun bulbs, it makes mention that they should be within 12" from the reptiles. I don't know how important that is, but I'm sure they've done more research than I have. I'm not sure about how many uros will get along. I know I've read of numerous, but I think they were together since babies. I doubt the success of introducing numerous adults would be very successful. Ic ould be wrong, though.
