Need Advice on Turtle Purchase

geckogirl72 May 30, 2004 12:40 PM

I'm looking for a pet for my nephew, he's 7 years old. He really want's a day gecko because I have several, but I feel he may be too young right now for one. Anyway, he also likes turtles/tortoises. I would like to find an easy to keep species for him. They have limited space, so one that is on the smaller side (

Not a good idea at all. Small turtles like baby turtles may be hard to raise to begin with, but one in a 7 year old's care would likely die within a few months. Too much responsibility for a little kid.

I agree. To much responsability and money involved. Also, there is no such thing as a tortoise that can live in a small enclosure. Tortoises need large enclosures. Ideally they should be kept outdoors.
