Hi, Nick:
BTS are absolutely the best pet lizards out there. To get thoroughly familiar with them, you are doing the right thing by researching them before getting one. The most comprehensive site on their care, literally from A to Z, is bluetongueskinks.net -- check it out and good luck.

I have owned a blue tongue skink now for about 3 1/2 years. It is absolutley my favorite reptile. They are easy to take care of. They also tolerate handling extremely well. If you need or want more info on this fascinating animal, contact me. I start to write a caresheet on them. It is very intensive and would help someone who is getting started into blue tongue skinks. i was going to breed them but decided not to. i didnt have enough money at the time. the hardest thing will be to sex them and they take 3 years to sexual mature, so you might want to look into buying an adult pair to save you the hassle of raising a baby blue tongue skink, but i would only suggest this if you are seriuos about breeding them. it is always betetr to start with a baby, it is better and more exciting for you. you also get to control the food and heat so you know it wasnt abused or malnurished. (hopefully you wont do that)
