Several years ago I had a 20 gallon tank with Anoles and baby toads out of my yard, tree frogs. I landscaped it and had it for about 4 or 5 years. Feeding time was lots of fun. Dump in the crickets and watch. All the materials and animals were cheap and it worked.

I would try a half water and half land vivarium. That would increase the differen't kinds of critters you could keep. Maybe some newts and some small fish in the water and then some anoles and a few tree forgs for the land.
Just a suggestion on the animals but i would definately do the 1/2 water 1/2 land idea.

just had an idea..

how would this work?

frogs, anole, salamander, newt?

Anoles and tree frogs work really well together. Just make sure you get the smaller green tree frogs as some of the larger tree frogs would make a meal out of a small anole. You can also throw in a house gecko also.

For an 80 gallon you can house a few different species easy.Since you are having a few different species I would recommend 2 male anoles,4 female anoles,4 green tree frogs and 4 house geckos. You could actually add maybe one more of each species and STILL have a lot of room left. Male anoles are very territorial and will fight all the time but 80 gallon tank you can house about 4 easy and they should have enough space.

BUT I had an anole enclosure that was a 75 gallon which is a lot of space for these little lizards. There was ONE male who chased all the other males to the other side of the enclosure any time they came over. He was a real mean little guy..lol

Thanks...that sounds like a good idea

now what would happen if i added a crayfish or lobster in the water portion of the 80 or 100 gallon tank?

Would a salamander and a newt be okay to put with frogs and anoles, and a gecko?

Well the thing is most anoles and house geckos are very poor swimmers or can not swim at all and will most likely drown if they fall into the water. Make sure you have a tree branch going out of the water in case one falls in they can climb out. I had a house gecko fall into a water dish and drown. Now this is one of those types of dishes that are made for reptiles to climb in and out of with a little ramp and all and this guy didn't make it out alive!

I would go with the newt if anything. One of those crayfish/lobsters might take a chunk out of the anole/tree frog or anything else you might add into the tank. You can house 1 male/1 female anole for every 10 gallons but thats a lot of cleaning to do as they will crap all over the glass/trees/vines and plants you have!

Anoles and tree frogs will need to be misted a few times a day as they won't drink from a water dish. Some will BUT I have found that they only drink from a dish if water is dripped into the dish from a plant. I would recommend getting a mister for the type of enclosure you are looking to keep. It'll keep the humidity levels up also.

Thanks

I think i'm gonna do the following

80 gallon tank

Newt(2), Anoles(2),tree frogs(2), golden frog(1),salamander(1)

will this work?

I'm still thinking about the crayfish..I reailly want one!! But i know its ot a good idea...Would the crayfish come on land??

do all these guys eat similar food?? and have similar tempture and enviroment requirements??
I think so

Thanks again guys

Glenn
